Jewelry booth for Uniquely Beaded Jewelry

I have been designing and creating beaded jewelry for about 1 year and have been attending local craft shows as well.

My booth started out very basic and has evolved into its current state.

I believe that I need to update the booth but I'm not sure what I improvements I should make.

I am looking for any feedback and definitely suggestions.

I have been researching this site as well as others for ideas but at this point I am confused.

My first impression

... is that your booth looks very professional!

You've done a great job with a unified color scheme, and I love how you've elevated your displays up off the table - very nicely done.

Your subtly-plaid table coverings are unusual and look very nice.

Your metal jewelry stands also look elegant and airy.

The only things I might suggest - but they're not absolutely necessary - are:

- A few big, colorful photos / posters of your jewelry hung up on your booth walls. Your black booth scheme would be a perfect foil for that, and they'd catch the eyes of folks passing by.

- A colorful banner bearing your "Uniquely Beaded Jewelry" business name, hung across the front of your table that faces your booth entrance. Again, your dark booth color scheme would really make that stand out - and it gives you an opportunity to imprint your business name into your customers' minds!

What aspect of your booth do you feel needs work, Aymee?

We'll be glad to offer feedback in a particular direction, if you like, but I think your overall effect is very professional and pleasing!

I agree that only the back wall could use a baner or color, I sometimes use swags going around making a border of fabric, or curtains in each corner would work too, I hang mine with a bungee cord.

Hi Aymee,
The first thing I noticed about your booth and set up is that it's very symmetrical. That's not a bad thing, however maybe you could try rearranging the items so they're still "balanced", but offer some variety to the eye. As it is, my eyes just kind of flowed over the entire display, instead of having any stopping points (I hope that makes sense!).
Lighting - I see none, and while I know not every show location will offer it, the difference in the way your jewelry presents itself is HUGE!!! Even for outdoor shows, lighting is essential.
I really like the layered look of your table coverings, but maybe the bottom layer could be a slightly different color?

Add white table cloths

You have certainly started off with a bang! I like the display pieces you have chosen to show off your jewelry items, and black is usually a hue that can bring sophistication into your booth.

Others have suggested you add photos to your display walls (which can easily be attached to the structure of your tent)to bring the viewer's eye upward and to unify the entire setting by making use of the negative space.

In addition, I would add another color, like white, by placing some smaller white table cloths on top of the black ones in order to create a more dynamic look, attract viewers by adding contrast, and help the jewelry sitting close to the table top to "pop". I fear there is way too much black and not enough of another color to dazzle the eye and interest the viewer enough to come into your booth.

In conclusion, I would hang large, well-done photos of my jewelry, and I would choose one additional color to place on top of the black table cloths.

I think your booth looks fantastic....just too dark. I would suggest hanging some lights or putting some lights on the table.

Black and white/silver just looks professional and high quality to me! My booth is very similar - I do use some white, silver, or gold, depending on the season and occasion. You might try adding some height to the back table with white wall shelves - I have two sets of them so it gives me balance and height and a little contrast. Look at the shelves at ahttp://www.wall-shelf.cn/wave-cube-shelf.htm.

I would pull the bottom cloth all the way to the floor but I like you choice in black and your jewelry will provide the real color for your booth. A banner, as others have suggested would add to your booth but I'd keep it similar in design to your current colors.

I like it! What are the wire rack that you used as a back drop on your tables?

I would recommend some RED! Red can be seen at a distance and looks fantastic with black. Whether you add some red scarves to the table...red in the corners...

I admit...that is what we use at Kewish Designs, black and red on the tables and it looks fantastic.

Asymmetrical

A nice man in the WWJ yahoo group mentioned a study that he had read. It was all about how our Western brains are used to reading and seeing things from left to right, and symmetrically. If we set up our booths that way (left to right and symmetrical, which is what most of us subconsciously tend to do), most people's eyes just kind of run over it quickly, without really taking anything in. But if we set things up so that their brains have to "stutter" when they look at it, they will look at our stuff longer, and actually SEE what's there. The way to do this is to set your booth up with a large or eye-catching display on the right side of your booth/table. So, I've been doing this for the last 8 months or so, and it WORKS. Things that I place on that large display on the right do sell faster than the ones on the left! It's not magic, things won't fly off your shelves, but if there's something you're trying to move, or if you just want to stand out from the crowd, give this a try!

grouping and focal points

Hi,
You have quite a sophisticated display for someone who is just getting started - wonderful! Also kudos to you for asking for advice.

I remember visiting a booth of a local designer and commenting to her about how well laid out it was. She explained that she groups things in sets of 3 or 5 because that is pleasing to the eye and the groupings give people a natural place to rest their eyes. Also I noticed that she had her sign elevated as a focal point. Her booth was also all in black with raised cloth covered platforms. Her logo sign was also black so it tied it all together beautifully.

Another I point I might add from my own direct experience is that displaying sets in boxes seems to work well. For a Christmas fair last year I placed sets in boxes in groups of 3 and 5 with empty boxes underneath to stagger the heights and sales were brisk. It's almost as though seeing them as the gift receiver would see them helped make their purchase decision. Something to try in any case.

So
- focal point - perhaps in a contrasting colour (white leather bust for example)
- items in groupings of 3 or 5 - separated by objects or display racks
- arrange a few sets of items in the jewelry boxes they'll be packaged in

Use that prime space

Hi,

As the other comments have indicated, you have really done well making this look so good so fast! Mine has been evolving for a long time, and I am still fussing with it.
I wanted to share what I know from working in the supermarket industry many years ago. They know that prime space is eye level, and so the hot moving items are all up high at close to eye level to increase sales. Since jewelry is small and not seen until close, I have found that large photos of my work at eye level really draw customers in. I ordered some 11x17 posters at Vista Print, cut them down to 11x14 and then put them in clear acrylic frames. I hang them at eye level behind the table or at the back of the booth, whatever works for the show setup. Looks clean and professtional. That also adds lots of color, in the case of my jewelry.

great start!

I agree with so many others-what a great start to the biz- Good job!
I also use boxes for table top display, black pin stripped ones from Rio Grande. I place them at the feet of off white linen busts (on risers) and group about 5 or so, in color ways. Gift ready! I also use decorative memory bk paper to line the inside of the lid of the box-a print that would enhance the piece. Then prop it open for display-(picture a braclet in a long box, with a patterned paper behind it.) looks very boutique like.
You seem to have an eye for a good set up-but I don't see any mirrors-which add sparkle, create a glam enviroment for shopping, and make it easy for customers to see your jewelry on themselves.

Thank you for all of the great suggestions. I just recently ordered the black higher busts for the necklaces which should give me more height. I've thought about the banner and it's actually less expensive than I thought. So, I will definitely make some of the changes suggested very soon as I have a number of shows scheduled. The lighting was not included in these pictures but I do have them in the center of the booth hanging and they provide great lighting.
I will post new pictures of the booth after the changes have been made.

You did a great job for your first show. Your booth looks professional, maybe to dark for me. I will suggest to change the color of the bottom table cloth for an other color (off white).
