Photo Frame Jewellery Display for Earrings and Necklaces

My photo frame display stand just after I made it

I needed a quick and easy way to display earrings at a charity sale. I saw that people had used photoframes in various ways to display jewellery and took this as inspiration.

I took two gold photoframes without the glass and attached two small hinges so that they can be folded up for storage.

I then added some balsa wood batons to make 5 rows for earring cards to hand off, and also added 6 screws along the top edge of the other frame.

This was so successful that I made another one and now they are a standard piece of display equipment wherever I display my jewellery.

The only downside to this display idea that I have found is that sometimes the photoframes aren't exactly square to each other and can rock on the table.

Helen, this is lovely! It turned out really nicely. I especially like the fact that you can hang both necklaces and earrings on one display.

Also that it can be stored and transported either folded or flattened to take up less space!

I wonder - for the frames that rock when standing on your table, could you glue one or more small felt "feet" in strategic places on the bottom edges to make them stand more solidly?

I LOVE this idea! It is so portable for outdoor shows. I would add a piece of fabric to the back to allow the pieces to jump out at customers. I can't wait to try this. Thanks for sharing!

Fabric backing

Twisted1: I did consider stapling a piece of fabric to the back of my frames, but because I use black flocked earring cards I decided against it. I might try it for the necklace section of my frames though. Hope you get on OK with trying this out.

I love this idea. I can see this being adapted to hold cuff bracelets, too. I'm curious as to how you attached the dowels to the frame. Thank you for sharing your design.

stop the rocking

try sanding the bottoms of your frames until they are evenly flat and stand on their own, without rocking.

Slats

Julie B: I glued the slats onto the back of my frames with wood glue which holds them on pretty well. The earrings aren't THAT heavy so I didn't need to use nails or staples.
