When displaying I find that customers appreciate having "departments" at your table, and if you have enough room, signage.

Another great strategy is giving each of the categories a boost, with some relating decor.

It really catches people's eye in a sea of white tents or tables.

That's an interesting idea, Eileen. I like the thought of giving each collection its own decor. I bet it gives your booth more of an intriguing boutique appearance.

First Show

On the 26th of this month I have my first Jewelry Show. I just started making jewelry and it has taken over my life. I apprecieate this idea and am going to try to incorporate a little in my displays. I'll have pictrues soon. Thank you, Rena for this wonderful site and all of your great advice! It has really helped me!

Good luck at your upcoming show, and let us know how it goes! Be sure to take pictures of your booth and displays at the show. The pics are always handy to have later (and we'd all love to see them if you'd like to share them here too!).

Signage Suggestions

Hi Rena, et al.,

I've been selling my jewelry at farmers markets now for over a year and doing pretty well. In fact, my kid's activity that I wrote to you about recently is taking off nicely. The kids seem to really enjoy it and the bracelets all come out so cute! My question today is about signage. I'm not the greatest about putting up signs and would love suggestions. Price tags are not always used either so I'm usually telling people the price of my pieces. This is sometimes a problem because I forget and then misquote or underprice my pieces!! Do most people put up signs and what do you say?? Do you describe the pieces or just an overall sign? Sounds silly I know but could use some help in this department. Thanks.

Opinion on Signage

Marlene, about your signage. Personally, I don't use signs. Look around at other professional booths and I think you will find that not many people do. Several of the shows I do forbid signs as it tends to make it look like you are having a "Sale".
I suggest you price your pieces on sticky jewelers tags. I have the same problem as you, if it's not marked I tend to forget and end up underpricing. I don't change price according to the show or crowd. Some people might do that. But if you develop a following/reputation, you don't want your customers to know the price of the piece depends on where the show is. They wll purchase only at particular shows that you sell at a lower price.
If I miss a piece and it isn't priced at a show and ALWAYS the customer will find it...I usually look for a comperable piece in my collection and price it accordingly.
