Double Picture Frame Earring Display

Double Picture Frame Earring Display

Last year I was getting ready for an artist festival here in Tulsa and took out all of my displays to clean (black velvet) and noticed my earring turn-table had lost the screws and nuts to hold it together.

It was the day before the festival, and no one here in Tulsa had anything to put it back together.

Months earlier I had bought a hinged double sided picture frame with a lock to close it. I had an idea of using it for earrings.

I stapled screen from an old torn window screen to it. I antiqued the frame and took it with me.

I used my Dymo Label Maker to make prices and stuck them to the top of the frame. I set up all of my displays with my jewelry and was surprised at the positive comments on the earring display.

My customers LOVED it. They thought it was creative and a really neat idea to display earrings with.

I have since gone to Walmart and purchased 2 more frames (11x14) for $5.00 each. They usually have these on a 4way in the middle of the aisle close to the frame aisle.

I've taken out the glass and antiqued the frame, added screen and used them for some speciality and higher priced earrings. They are displayed on some wrought iron picture stands I got from Pier One several years ago.

And I have added some oriental silk on my table cloths and some decorative trunks from Hobby Lobby (on sale) to dress up my tables and raise up my displays. It has worked, and I have more comments on how "Beautiful" my displays look.

It also helps with sales!

Lovely Way to Display Earrings
by: Rena

Thanks so much for sharing your great picture frame display, Michelle.

I have heard of people doing this, but have never done it myself (yet!).

Thanks also for including your how-to and sources for the parts to make our own display.

Aluminum screen VS Plastic Screen
by: DBOUDRE

This idea for displaying earrings is a great one, however after making my own some time ago I realized that there is a pretty big flaw to the design. I use the display to basically store and organize my earrings and I found that they (the earrings) were tarnishing very quickly. I believe this is due to the chemical reaction between the aluminum screen I used and the silver in the earrings. So, next time, I think it would be much better to use the PLASTIC screen and save a ton of time polishing all those earrings!

Simple DIY Solution
by: Bead Me

I love your simple, elegant, and inexpensive solution. This would be great for crystal jewelry and especially for lampwork glass pieces where light is often the key to sales. DBOUDRE's 12.11.07 comment is extremely helpful as well. Thanks!
