Earring tree - a ready made tree that holds up to 100 pairs of earrings

Christmas 2009 I asked my partner to check out the local florist shops and buy me some tortured willow that I could spray with silver, pop in a large urn and use as a window decoration.

He got as far as the local pharmacy and spied this wonderful ready made tree complete with base for sale in their window, and was back within 15 minutes with what he called 'one of my Christmas presents!' (he probably thought he was going to get stuck with the job of spraying the willow!).

Once I dressed it with ribbons and baubles and put it in the window, I realised how wonderful it would look with lots of earrings in amongst them, and so once the decorations were removed in the New Year it has remained there ever since.

My customers love it and often comment on it, I have had up to 100 pair of earrings on it. It is light and airy looking, you can see all earrings hanging off it and it does not block my window display.

When I took off all the decorations last week I just happened to have a sheet of red card and a roll of red and gold craft ribbon and so with Valentines coming up, cut out some red hearts and attached them to the tree.

They are so light that the air conditioning or breeze through the doorway keeps them constantly moving and I can see already that the movement is catching the attention of passerbys.

Whilst it is not that portable I think it could also make a lovely central display on a table top at jewellery fairs or expos.

Any ideas for Easter?

Lovely earring tree!
by: Rena

How great to be able to hang up to 100 pairs of earrings on this groovy tree! Also that customers can walk around it and view it from every side.

Love the fluttering red Valentine hearts on it - what a great reminder to pick up a nice gift like jewelry for the occasion.

For Easter, what about pretty paper flowers in Spring colors? Or tiny chocolate eggs that accompany a purchase? Or little birdnests filled with jellybean "eggs"?

Your partner has a good eye for potential jewelry displays - maybe you should send him out on display-scouting trips more often! :o)

Thanks for sharing this great jewelry display idea, and inspirations for making it a seasonal promotion piece!

Just what I wanted!

Thanks Rena, that's 3 great ideas, love the choc egg giveaway idea and the paper flowers.

Like the bird's nest idea also, maybe someone can tell me a quick and easy way to make?

Will send a photo at Easter.

PS: Absolutely love your site, so much information I sometimes get lost! wonderful interacting with like-minded people.

I also love your display. For a stationary (permanent) display. I did something similar when I first started selling at craft fairs. Its a lot of work to put up and take down at every show. Also the jewelry starts getting a "worn" look after they have been taken down too many times.
I can't wait to see how your tree evolves through the seasons. Maybe you can add some sand and seashells for the summer. Please post the pictures.

Great Idea

This is such a great idea. A scaled down version could be useful as well. thank you for sharing.
