Table display
For my last jewelry show, I wanted an earring display that would allow me to display large and long earrings. It also needed to have a contrasting color for the hammered aluminum earrings I had made.
I also wanted something I could prepare in advance, so it was important that the earrings didn't fall from it.
I had tried earring cards in the past, but I was not entirely happy with them, as making them work for my fire screen (an idea I took from this wonderful site) was a bit difficult and time consuming.
So, I decided to create a giant version of my personal earring holder, which is just a piece of foam where I stick my earrings.
I went to a fabric store and bought a piece of foam large enough to cover the main section of the fire screen, 1 inch thick.
It was green, so I dyed it black (for which a regular fabric dye would work, I believe, I used ink because that is what I had at hand that night).
After it dried, we attached it to the fire screen with some wire and it was ready to go.
During the show, the fire screen fell right after putting it on the table (outdoor show), and thanks to the foam, only a couple of the earrings fell from the display, the rest stayed put.
We changed the position, added a back support, and it didn't fall again.
I will dye the foam once more (this time with a fabric dye) so that it gets a darker and more uniform color. Here is a picture of the final result.
