I started creating jewelry many years ago, but recently entered art fairs locally and I've noticed that I am drawn to the artists that dress the part.
If the artist is wearing an "art fair outfit", I take a closer look at what they are selling. I also expect a jewelry artist to wear plenty of their own jewelry while doing the event.
For me personally, I wear something funky and colorful that I bought from an artist on etsy or something beaded or bright. I bring my two mannequins named Karma and Dharma and they dress that way, too.
My customers recognize my booth because of my mannequins and have even bought the dresses from the etsy artist who made them. The pink and black dress is made by Wildewear on etsy (always trying to pay it forward.)
Also, when I'm just out and about, I always wear my jewelry. It's never a good thing to be caught wearing only someone else's pieces or worse yet, not wearing any jewelry at all!
I have some amazing pieces from other artists, but I wear them when I'm out of town.
