Abstracta booth for jewelry by Karen Wolffis
My "abstracta" booth has been the favorite of all my booth displays over the past ten years. Most of the shows I enter are juried and a strong booth picture is a must.
I chose the "abstracta" design for its ease and simplicity.
The pieces are tubes and connectors, sort of like putting together a design with Legos. You can design it yourself, or purchase a stock model like I did.
I like to be able to change out the panels which is illustration board covered with fabric.
Another idea is to sew a very long strip of fabric and thread it through the tubes from one end to the other.
Sew support tabs to the fabric to attach to the upper frame and roll the end edges of the long strip into a casing to slip over the end tubes.
The best part is being able to disassemble the unit into small manageable parts easily transportable. No heavy lifting!
The glass panels on top are the heaviest component. I had plexiglas panels made for the vertical inserts, but you could also use the lighter weight plexiglas instead of glass for the top of the display.
My more expensive and one-of-a-kind lampwork and silver jewelry is displayed under the glass while the top is used to display "touchable" items. This seems to work well for everyone.
You can get more information on abstracta by contacting the Consort group in Kalamazoo, Michigan. They are the distributors for this Swiss made product.
